Re: 1986 buick regal miami fl

i wanna keep a small v6 in it because it will be my daily driver. i want ot have it painted black, put some 20s on it not to big and not too small.
i want to redo the whole interior and just make it a dependable daily driver.
i was wondering if my engine is bad, what v6 engines fit in these regals?

While the ol carberated Buick 3.8 was not a powerhouse they could get reasonable mileage and often lasted 200,000 miles even when poorly maintained. I would take it in for new plugs & a tune up and have them replace hoses where ever they find vacume leaks of which its likely to have a few. After this if she still has problems the carberator being 24 years old may need new gaskets and refreshed. If through the phone books or a referral from a local garage or autoparts store you can find a local carberator shop or guy that likes Q-jets bring it to him. None of that was expensive and will pay for itself in saved fuel other problems not to mention headaches. If it still smokes its often either worn or dirty valve seats or seals. Try some deposit cleaners first if that does not do it a valve job will but that get a little more expensive.

A body shop guy or maybe a good autoparts counter guy can show you how to adjust the doors to get them back in aline. Litheum (sp?) grease in a spray can is available in an auto parts store and will make them quiet & smooth. I would immagine you can order a door handle at an autoparts and you may need new door stops. They are somewhat of a wear & tear items are cheap and most autoparts stores can get them in a day. If you can't get the door handle try the local mens mall er salvage yard.

Re: 1986 buick regal miami fl

your doors probably need new pins and bushings, which are like $8 at the parts store, my pass side door was the same way, after i put the new pins in, it closed like new
