The El Camino's wheelbase is 8 or 9 inches longer than other G-bodies.

More than that, even. 2dr, 4dr, and wagons use a 108" wheelbase, Caminos use a 119" wheelbase. Even if you shortened the frame, the rear body mounts are different.
