Good Day to all board members.
Just thought I'd wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I've got a couple of questions that hopefully you might be able to help me with.
As the heading says, I've got a 1988 Cutlass GT. It's #14 of the 280 modified by Tops and Trends in Kernerville, North Carolina. I've found all of the previous owners (now 6 including myself), and I'd like to know how many of the 280 done are still around. Mines' a survivor with 127000 or so miles on it. All numbers matching. Other than making it reliable (which it is), I have no plans of doing restoration to it. The interior is mint, there is no rust that I can find, and the paint has just the right amount of patina.
Mechanically, there is only one issue that needs attention, that being the shifter. There is no detent when you move it. You can go from park to low without depressing the button of the shift handle. Does anyone know if this is something that can be repaired and if so where would I find any help on doing this? If it can't be repaired I'll have to locate another one. The transmission is the TH2004R, and I wonder if the shifter out of another GBody with the 2004R will work, I'm thinking Buick Regal , the Pontiac Grand Prix and the Monte Carlo.
Any help would be much appreciated.
If you want to email me direct, it's [email protected]
Thanks to all.
