1988 monte carlo Tach problem

Alright so the problem is that the tach kind've works? when i start the car the tac will start to bounce up and when the car starts it drops way below 1 and just sits there, doesnt move.

Any idea why? it's kind've a pain in the *ss doing the timing with no tac lol.

Sounds like your tach is getting power but it's not connected to your distributor. Check the wire again.

The circut board could be dirty or the tach filter could be shot.
