What's up guys
I'm running a mild 357 small block, 400turbo with a 390 gear in a 7.5 rear end.. Is a 2000-2400 stall to small for my setup?? I'm breaking in the new gear so I haven't really put my foot in it but the car just feels like its being held back when I cruise.

Cam speck would tell you what stall converter you might need. Once you get to a bigger cam the company will tell you how much converter you would need to work with the cam.
I know much about the cam specs besides it being a 468 flat tapper cam

I have a hard time thinking that that stall speed is too much for that combo. We need more cam specs to be sure but my money is somewhere else. What do you mean by "held back when I cruise"?

Hard to explain. just feels like i should have a lot better acceleration.. maybe it's because I'm still running the stock driveshaft

The driveshaft has nothing to do with it. You may want to provide as much information about your setup as you can.

It's about the whole package - heads, cam, intake, carb, gear, and of course convertor.
Im not sure about all the specs of the motor.. I got it from a friend of my uncles and he's since passed away..

It's kinda hard to give any advice w/o knowing what you have. 3.90 gears should give you some acceleration your heads are small runner and should have good bottom mid range. I would start by going back over your engine making sure the timing is right, centrifugal and vacuum advance are working, carb is working properly and plugs look good.

here is my 2 cents, with a 3 speed trans and a 3:90 gear your running to high rpm at high way speeds and if you have short tires that will not help either.
What MPH are you talking about? what kind of rpms are you at the speed your talking about?
and if I'm right in my thinking the stall will not matter much you will need a taller tire or another gear (overdrive trans maybe?)
