Ok so i went to take a look at that monte carlo for 2000. Thing was in immaculate shape other than a few blisters in the paint. Virtually no rust, interior was clean as factory new, door jambs had no sign of rust at all and car ran as smooth as if it had 50000 kms on it. Anyways the guy said he didnt want to keep it outside anymore in fear of it being stolen or getting in worse shape, so he said for me i could have it for 1500$! Problems it has is Fuel gauge doesnt work, drive side heated seat doesnt work, a small tear in the door seal on drivers side, small rip in leather seat for the driver, and thats about it! Just wondering for the fuel gauge if anyone with these cars had similar problems? He said the fuel pump needs to be replaced because the sensor is in it. Ive read you can just replace the sensor instead of the fuel pump? I got some quotes from napa, the sensor is 50$ and the fuel pump with the sensor is 450 + tax. Also ive seen that you can access the pump from the trunk, so if so then it shouldnt be too hard of a swap for either items. Please give me some info as i would like to pick up this car asap so i can store my 86! Thanks guys! Your help is much appreciated 🙂

It can be replaced separately and is attached to the side of the pump module. $450 is waaay high even for replacing everything. I haven't ever seen a trunk access on one. IIRC the tank is ahead of the rear axle and I can do a fuel pump R&R in about 30 minutes. They don't get much easier than that.

I thought you were getting a Ranger/Dakota/S10/etc?

you can replace that part seperate, and w body cars 98 and newer have accsess panels, pull your trunk carpet you will see a cover with 6 or 7 screws pull it pump will be under it cover will be near the back seat centered

Ok thats good, i am pretty sure its just the sensor but ill check first to make sure! I ended up buying the car for 1400! So stoked 🙂 I wanted to own one of these montes ever since i was a kid. Now i have 2 😀

Ok so ran the scanner today and the fuel level sensor code came up. Glad i didnt choose to replace the whole pump, sensor is 50$ so im happy 🙂
