I have a CZF monte ss trans in my 442, dead stock valvebody and correct governor with 3.73 gears ; shifts should be around 5200-5600 rpm WOT 1-2. I have 3.73 gears and I'm debating whether to get 3.90's for better acceleration but I'm worried if this terribly affects the governors shift point throughout the gears. I know I'll have to switch the speedo gear but I want to have a clue on how much this is going to affect the shifts WOT and part throttle.

If you only change the speedo driven gear (the one that spins the cable) your shift points will not be affected. Even if you were to change the speedo driving gear (the one on the governor) it shouldn't be affected. I believe the set of teeth that spins the governor has the same count no matter what. It's the springs and weights that differ by application.

If I were you I wouldn't even bother with the gear swap. Not worth it IMO.
