Hi, I’m removing my ecm and I looked at a few different lock-up kits and one will have just a couple of parts and another will have quite a few…how can they do the same thing? Painless vs. TCI for example. thanks for any direction. Or is it better to just leave the ecm/pcm in place and just use it to control my trans. Can the pcm be separated from the ecm? Thanks

I did the same thing when I got my SS (with 200R4) a couple years ago. I removed all the computer stuff and installed the TCI lockup kit. I didn’t want to mess with the switches, etc. After getting it installed, the vacuum switch needed a little adjusting. After I got it set the converter locks and unlocks just like when it was new. Also make sure you adjust the TV cable properly so you don’t burn up your trans.
