I have a posi 3.42 on my cutlass. Has a bent axle so I was thinking about fixing it( cost $250) But.....was also thinking about getting a new heavier duty rear end with 3.73 which would cost like $1600. Is it worth doing or put the money into something else? Has a built 403 and stock 200r4 transmission. Not a drag car and won't put on the track. Just a good running car for fun on the street.

I wouldn't. Just get good forged axles. 3.42 is a great gear for a street car with a torquey motor. If you want it to be a little quicker off the line, get a higher stall lock up torque converter. A lot cheaper than a new rear end.

Probly right....i Wasn't looking forward to spending that much on a rear end but everyone I talk to says it' the best thing....but I could do a lot with 1600 for my car. Just figured I would get some more opinions before making a decision
