I recently bought some wheels and they have a couple of bends in the lip. I had the run-out checked on them and majority lateral and radial run-out measures about 20 thousandths with the 2 worst spots being about 130-140 thousandths. I'm having the inner barrel repaired but I'm told the outer barrel cannot be repaired since its chrome and would end up being discolored because of the heat applied when fixing them. So i found barrels on eBay that are coming from Miami but to put them on the shop here wants 125 a wheel to disassemble and reassemble the wheels with the new front barrel. Can someone let me know if this is something i could do my self? From what i know its bolts and sealant but its there more to it?

Yes this is something you can do yourself. I'm doing the same thing right now. After I get the powdercoating stripped off I will be putting them back together. The hardest pars it getting all the bolts out. I had a wrench & a ratchet with 40 bolts on each wheel. I have air tools now so it will be a whole lot easier putting them back together. You might want to call your wheel manufacture to see that your bolts should be torqued to & the sealant you want to use is Dow Corning 832 multi surface adhesive sealant. You can find it online just google the name
