It looks like it has been rebuilt before based off of the engine paint. Find out why it needs to be rebuilt and if it has been before. Check for a number and/or letter on the corner of the heads. There is also a casting number right in front of the intake and right behind the timing cover/water pump that you need to get. You should see it to the left of the oil pressure sending unit, but it may be covered in grease and sludge.

As long as it is a 350 and is able to be rebuilt, $100 is a great price. If you can talk him down, great. If not, still buy it, it's a great price.

Appreciate the advice. I thought the price was good and at the end of the day if a $100 dollars can buy me some experience with some engine work it will be good. Hopefully nobody will snag it before I can make it up there this weekend.

Looks like a windowed main 77-80 350 by the valve covers, wasnt repainted and I doubt its ever been rebuilt.
3A heads most likely, TH350, R4 AC compressor.
If its been sitting in the mud like that theres no telling how long its been there, check to see if it spins freely or if its full of water...
Could be a deal or a nightmare...

By no means am I expecting a miracle. If it works out then I have found myself a deal. If it doesn't then I'll have a little something to learn from. I've never really touched the inside of an engine before. Messing with cars has always been fun though. So I'll see where this takes me. I've spent $100 on dumber sh*t before. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply.
