You beat me by seconds! HA! It goes to the frame and maybe it just goes into a frame hole? Hard to see, and mine was missing when I got it. Anyway, I use 2 springs. One I run between the clutch fork and the bottom of the "Z" bar, in the adjustment hole. Then I run another from the clutch fork to a tab I installed on one of the exhaust manifold bolts. That way I get the adjusting rod clamped nicely between the fork and "Z" bar. Plus I get the pedal to positively return and I know the throwout bearing cannot ride against the clutch at all. Here is the pic from an 81' Chevy manual.

Any suggestion on where to buy parts? Specifically the spring the El Camino store wants $28 for it and a wavy washer is $15. Seems ridiculous to me. I can't seem to find it any where else though.
