i HAVE A 83 REGAL AND IM PLANNING TO PUT A CARBED LQ4 IN THIS WINTER. MOTOR WILL HAVE CUSTOM CAM AND LS3 HEADS. THIS CAR IS A CRUISER, I WILL STEP ON IT FROM TIME TO TIME BUT IT WILL SEE NO STRIP TIME. WILL SEE CITY AND HIGHWAY TIME. I'M WONDERING WHAT ALL DO I NEED TO INSTALL A 4L80E? OR WHAT OTHER TRANS WOULD YOU GUYS SUGGEST?

The main things you need are a crossmember and a driveshaft. Hooking up the shifter shouldn't be all that difficult.

For the trans to you will need a standalone controller. The optishift controllers are supposed to be decent. You may consider going efi and controlling the trans with an ecm. The money you save on a trans controller, carb, intake and msd unit, you could have covered the cost of a harness, ecm and tuning software.

There is a kit you can buy(a few actually) that would basically make it a manual valvebody. From what I read it is a pretty big job and involves getting pretty deep into the transmission but then you dont have to buy a stand alone controller and deal with the pain of wiring it up and the potential problems that go along with all that. I was looking into doing the conversion but the deal I had fell through so I never got the trans.
