OK, so I plan to get my body mounts replace this year (solid ones). And I was thinking about the '#5 Grand National body bushing', and maybe adding them to my car (1980 4-door Malibu).

But I have a few questions. First (don't laugh lol) what exactly are these? Like are the mounting holes already there and they just need the bushing? Or would I have to have mounts welded up to body and/or frame?

The holes are already there for the #5 bushing . . . no drilling or mods required.

I think its a myth that only GNX's had these, I've seen some other G-Bodies get them (not bolted in though, just sandwiched in place). I don't know the rhyme or reason as to what cars got the #5's and what ones didn't.

Unlike the other six sets of bushings this one has no lower half and requires no bolt to attach it. The bushing should have a 'knob' of some sort on its bottom that will seat into a pre-existing hole in the frame. Piece of cake...

Hmm, well I'm gonna have to take a closer look at mine and see. And I'm gonna be getting some parts from underneath a GP and a Cutlass tomorrow, I'll see how those are set up while I'm at it too. 🙂
