thinking about converting my regal to a 5 speed, have a rocket motor fully built and was wondering what trans from what car would work, seen a friend with a malibu with a 4 speed stock and would like to do the swap, any one ever done this before? one more thing, it seems as though at high speeds im spitting oil out of my oil filter seal, any one encountered this before?

You can use a bellhousing from a BOP G-body manual car.

Although they are hard to find, they are out there.

Along with the bellhousing you can use the G-body pedals and linkage.

After that you can get yourself a T-5 trans.

As long as you don't run slicks/drag radials or powershift it, it will last.

If you want to go all out and have the cash to do it, then a TKO 5 speed or even the new Keisler RS 5 speed. With an aftermarket bellhousing.

Or you can really go crazy like I did and throw in a T-56 6 speed.

And like 19cutlass79 said take off the filter, check to see if the old seal is stuck between the new seal and the block.

If not, then replace the filter and tighten the new one down slightly more than hand tight with a filter wrench.

Are you using a full hydraulic clutch setup for your T56? If so, what master cylinder did you use for your clutch? Also, you don't happen to have issues with clearance between the master cylinder and your headers?

I'm doing a T56 swap on my Monte Carlo which has a big block and 2" super comp. headers- the #5 pipe wraps around the steering shaft and it might be in the space for a clutch master cylinder like an LS1 style, which I might want to use in my swap.

I am using an LT1 style T-56 not an LS1.

I have the LT1 hydraulic clutch master and slave.

I am also using Hooker 2455's not the 2241's.

They have the 2"x 30" long tubes 3.5" collectors only they are a 1 piece design.

The slip tubes are a pain in the @zz, leak and cost way to much.

They fit right in for me with solid mounts.

wow, how's the fit with those headers? got any underhood pics?

Sorry to hijack this thread somewhat but I'm curious about that clutch master cylinder clearance- plus layedoutregal might need to consider this too on the Regal, exhaust clearance with whatever clutch setup is chosen, either hydraulic or mechanical.
