im putting a stock 8 cyl rad where a 6 cyl rad used to be in my 84 monte non ss.
the fan shroud and top plate are from a 84ish olds.
it looks like the rubber pcs that the rad support are different on the 8 cyl ones.
do you think I can buy these locally at a parts store?
I want to put this in tomorrow morning.

I doubt it, quickest way to get them is pull some out of a u pick junkyard.

I put it in and it fit up to the holes in the rad support.
the problem is that it sits at least an inch too high and the hood will not close.
I think im going to have to do some surgery to the bottom of the shroud to get it lower.

Is the shroud you have for a V8?

V8 Monte Carlo shroud will fit and you could sell the cutlass top rad plate for $$. Otherwise the like you stated the rubber isolators may be too large. Should be easy enough to fabricate something out of a strip of rubber mudflap to get you going.

the problem is the lower 2 mounting holes in the shroud.
the holes in the rad support(metal)need to be lowered at least an inch.this cant be done without extending the lip lower somehow.
even then the shroud has a lip on it thar rests on the rad support.it looks like I will need to cut the bottom off of the shroud.
