hey guys anyone run a mini spool in a 7.5 just trying to make it a posi ive looked around here a 100 miles in every direction for a factory posi unit but the salvageyards scrap all the old stuff (a$$ holes)

I may sound dumb but did the factory use mini spools?

The factory never used a mini-spool. Only Limited Slip or Posi

well no !! but just wandering ifanyone has used one and how did it work for them . good points and the bad points! or does anyone have a factory posi unit that will accept a 342 gear??????????? :blam:

hey you dont have to be like that and its not a stupid question isnt this site for asking questions... i think your out of line sir !!!!!!!! :blam:

I used a mini spool on the street for a few days. But I almost go a ticket for making a turn because the wheels would squeal. If you are going straight and the axles have a c-clip eliminator installed then its good otherwise it would be better to get a posi unit. Also if you know someone with a welder, you can make a Lincoln Lock and weld the spider gears..

I ran a mini spool in a Ford 8". It was a spare third member with track gears that I was forced to run for a couple weeks after I sheared the pinion in my street setup. It was the longest 3 weeks ever. I was sooooo glad when I found another third member for daily duty. Mini spools have their place - but not really for street use.

ok thanks guys i did find one on ebay for 225 buy it now its out of a s 10 so i wont have to run a ring gear spacer cause im running a 342 gear .....

S-10 likely has 28 splines. Axles in Gbody 7.5s are 26 spline. That still gonna work for you? Mid-late 80s Camaros/Firebirds had 26 spline Auburn posi carriers as an available option. I think 2.73 was the deepest stock gearing though.
