I was womdering if anybody knew if a 92 s10 tahoe blazer with vortec v6 came with 700r4. he truck has overdrive and is a 4X4 but I was wondering if it was 700r4 if so I have my hands on a complete truck for cheap thinking about pulling trans and junking the rest let me know guys

I got one from a 2wd. All you should need to do is swap the tail housing.

Yes it is but the 4l60e version I believe. To bad ya don't live closer to FL I would have bought the engine from ya.

If there's a TPV cable it is a 700 R4. Also look at the shifter mechanism, if there is not a multi pin plug in bolted to the trans and just a regular old school lever like a t-350 that clues you also. I just got a wrecking yard 700 from a 92 chev van, I was suprised it wasn't a 4l60. Oh and it cost me around a hundred with a 12 month warranty, (replacement only) I took it to my trans guy, he pullled it apart, installed a corvette servo and a heavy duty b module (I think) and I'm into the trans for around three bills. Tough deal to beat considering I didn't have to mess around with towing, disposal, pissed off neighbors, titles, anyhow, just a thought.
One other thing, if you are considering a wrecking yard trans, look for one (If it's an older unit) with a painted torque converter. All reman, or replacement torque converters are painted, that means someone has already been into the trans. If it's bare, it is OEM.

i'm not a trans guy but when i got mine for my car the trans guy wanted a core out of a vette or caprice. something to do witht the internals being better.

It's not electronic, just a regular 700r4, same one that's in my blazer. I'm not a 100% but i think you need to swap the output shaft along with the tailshaft housing to convert it to a 2wd trans.

there are 3 main versions. the 700-r4, 4l60, and 4l60E. the 700 and 4l60 are really the same. the 4l60E is completely computer driven. personally i prefer the 200-4r, but the 4l60E is the best of the 700/4l60's. you can tune much more with a computer, assuming you have the software.
