Hi Guys,

Ok here is what I am planning to do. I have an 86 Olds Cutlass Supreme. The car originally had a 307 that I replaced with 1969 Olds 350. I am still runnning the original trans which is the metric 200. I have changed the gears in the 7.5 rear from a 2.14 to a 3.23. My final drivetrain project is the transmission. I have talked to many people and basically it all comes down to a 700r4 for strength, duribility, and reliability. I realize I will have to get a bolt pattern adapter to make it bolt up, get a new crossmember to accomodate the 700r4, and shorten the driveshaft. I also realize I will have to make sure the TV cable is adjusted properly. My concern is what other issues will I run into trying to swap a chevy trans into an Olds? Are the splines the same on the driveshaft? What is the best crossmember to use? I am sure this has been done several times by others and any feedback about what parts to use or what to expect would be great.

You will need a th2004R crossmember and you have to cut a small corner off of it, IIRC.You may also have to clearance the floorpan a little to get it to fit. I Would run a TH2004R if it were my choice as it is a very good transmission if set up correctly. Plus, there isn't a sharp drop in gearing between 1st and 2nd like the TH700R4 has. Also, it's a bolt in using factory parts.

Is there any place that you know of that builds a good 2004R for street performance use?

I've heard of a guy in or near Cincinnati that can build them right. I think he goes by "Dan the transmition man". I never had anything done by him, but it may be someplace to start.
Good luck

Has anyone ever had any problems with www.bowtieoverdrives.com 2004r. They have 3 stages and I am looking into the stage 2. It comes with a 1 year unlimited milage warranty from when you call in the pressures and they verify your tv cable is properly adjusted. They say it's good for up to 400hp and I know I am under that.
