Okay, so I bought a 700R4 to replace the Pos 200R4 in my grand prix 2+2. now that i've got it out is when i realize this is a little more complicated than what i was described by my mechanic and seller  . so obviously the driveshaft needs to be shortened 3 inches. what do i do for a fill tube? this supposed rebuilt with a shift-kit desireable transmission is turning into one giant headache. theirs no way im cutting my drive shaft. is their any application of driveshaft that would be correct for me? (current shaft is 48" need 45")
Is it even worth it to put this transmission in my car? I've had nothing but trouble with the 200R4 since day one. What transmission should I put in the car? Quick responces would be appreciated as the car is currently jacked and looking like the crappy 200R4 must be going back in it.
btw the original 305 is on the garage floor and it now has a 350 chev in it.

patience grasshopper. took me so long to go from my 200 metric to th350 cuz of stupid stuff but in the end youll be happy

we just dropped a crate 350 in and are goin with a turbo 350 transmission isn't the 700 a little much? i dunno i am just askin too i guess

the only thing is, is i really need the overdrive. im only 18 and the car is my daily driver in the summer. i'd like to get my hands on a beefed 200R4 now, but its all a little hectic when it is after the fact. would anybody know of one of the beefed up grand national 200R4's in the area of Kitchener, Ontario?
Thanks in advance

the 2004r was an awsome trans! just think, take one grand nat and run 9 second quarter miles and drive home in OD siping not sucking gas and all on a stock or damn near trans! i know thats streching it a little but you get the point, that plus the 2004r has a much better 1st gear raito then the 700r4 and can inharently take a lot of power. my bud jeff has a BBC maken 560 plus hp in front of a stock one in a malibu and has had know trouble(he just drives it and shows off a little with it ) but its a good one to go with.

i have had a 700r4 in my gp since 1996. i love it . it is from an 87 iroc, it has a 91 b body tail shaft if i remember ,i think it has the iroc dipstick tube. have about 60,000 miles and 330 drag strip runs.
