Im pretty mechanical but when it comes to electrical stuff, its harder for me.... with that said...

Can anyone explain to me how to install a 12v wire from the brake pedal of my 87 442 to the lock up connector? So that everytime Im at a stop it cancels the lock up. Im installing a 700R4 and a sbc performance engine.

Thanks!

Oh for Pete's freakin sake. Another rare, classic Olds gets the bowtie treatment. A big thumbs up for that. :roll:

Despite your horrible choice to ruin a 442 with a 'lets be like everybody else' Chevy engine AND Chevy trans ( your 2004r is the better trans ), I'll make an exception to my 'don't help guys who are putting Chevy engines into there Olds' rule; your car already has the brake switch and wiring you need to accomplish your goals.

I know, I know, Im getting flak from all sides.
I appreciate your input. My 442 had a 200C! So it sounds like all I need to do is splice the old 200C lock up connector with the new 700R4 one?

Thanks!

Well deserved flak my friend!

OK, so I'm assuming your car has been stripped of it's CCC system? If so, this is how it needs to be wired;

The purple wire coming off your brake switch needs to be routed to the out side of the car to a vacuum switch ( connected to ported vacuum ) and from the vacuum switch to the transmission's 4 pin connector ( but I don't remember which of the 4 pins the purple wire needs to be on ). The 4th gear pressure switch in the trans needs to be converted from a NC switch to a NO switch.

Do that and you'll get lockup in 4th gear only, it will only lock during high vacuum, it will unlock if you press the brake, and it will unlock when you take your foot off the gas.

The Painless lovkup kit includes all the parts to do this including a new brake switch annd connector which you don't need because you already have one there from the factory. I'm also assuming the 700 is the same as the 2004r in this regard.

P.S. Please put an Olds engine back in your car. Chubby power is bad enough in a regular Cutlass but downright wrong in a 442 or Hurst Olds.
