anyone tell me a couple of things ? first will a 78 Malibu station wagon rear diffy fit under my 78 cutlass the correct way ,I know there is a different pan but is that all ? second I have a near new frame for my 78 cutlass from a 78 monty carlo and want to make it into a rolling frame before i take the cutlass off road , will the front suppension from a 79 malibu inter change ?

The rear axles are completely interchangeable. That's a bolt-in.

There is one small issue to be aware of on the front suspension. The 1978 cars use a different outboard wheel bearing than the 79-88 cars. The control arms are interchangeable, but the spindles and rotors are different on 78s. You can swap the complete spindle and rotor from 78 to later cars and vice versa. Just be aware there is a small difference.

Thank's for information .
I will post advance work on 78 Cutlass Supreme Brougham later this Spring when I start restoring it .right now getting ready to buy a donor car for all the undercarriage to go onto the new frame ,its a 79 Malibu 4 door sedan and wanted to make sure most of it would interchange .
