hi every one im new to this i have an 81 cutlass 2 dr that i've owned since i was 18 its my first car , i recently pulled the 6 cyl out and dropped in a chevy 305 from a 95 g-20 van, the problem im having is the alternator isnt charging the batt.ive tried 3 alts. one batt, and bought a new ignition switch for her.at first my turn signals brake.reverse. and idiot lights all worked, now they dont, as of an hr ago today my buddy and i jsut got the turn signals to work again but the dash cluster is still down the seat belt/ charge light, etc, do not come on, and im familiar with the chargelight for resistance to tell the alt to start charging, but i am stumped on why the hell its not doing its job!!!! the type of alt is a CS from the 95 van i left the belt system serpentine instead of V i bought the wire conversion kit for the plug that goes into the ALT for the signal got that hooked up right, even tried directly plugging the battery pos term, into the back of the alt. right then and there it started working for abt a 1/2 hr then it quit. as of current the only things that are working electrically is the :
head lights/ brights
brake
turnsignals
hazards
and pump for the windsheild squirts
engine starts up with out a fight
i recently bought new fuseable links for both wires even attatched a 40 amp fuse to the fuseable links
took apart the fuse box/dashboard and inspected the wires some of the wires were fried but have been repaired
anyone have any ideas and or had this problem? i'd like to drive this car this summer before it ends lol thanks for ur help
