I just wanted to ask opinions...

I have a 1981 cutlass with a chevy 350 in it.. (im going to change it back to an olds 350 but not right now)

Im putting together my exhaust for it...

I have Flowtech headers
flowtech x pipe w/ cutouts

i need to get my mufflers, Im not sure if I want to get flowmasters or the flowtech glasspacks... I've had flowmaster b4 but I never heard the glasspacks....

what do you guys think??????????????

Glass packs generally sound like crap regardless of the engine feeding them. They have a harsh, abrasive tone, especially at WOT.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

I'll beat my drum for the flowmaster 80 series crossflow muffler. Even for guys that run duals with an X-pipe in the middle they make a nice dual in, dual out muffler that fits behind the rear axle just like the factory V6 cars had.

I like the sound, but as another poster pointed out, dual flowmasters under the seats tend to give you a reverberated tone inside the cabin. Behind the axle is not so bad...

I'd say nay to the glasspacks, because as supercrackerbox pointed out, we think they sound like crap, I'd go with the flowmasters.

And to really mess you up. I like glasspacks over flowmasters, but so far i like my magnaflows better than glasspacks.

going with the flowmasters was my plan anyway, but I just wasnt sure how the glass packs sounded....

so im going with flows... i had them on my z24 and they sounded really good, nice and loud... and ya cant compare a z24 to a cutlass, lol.....

jus gotta get my tailpipes and ill be all good.... I used the tailpipes from an 84 monte carlo last time cuz it goes up over the rear end, so im gonna use those again....

An addendum to that- Buying Magnaflow products supports my employment. 😀

I actually agree with this. I had dual glasspacks on my 77 Cutlass and the Olds 350 that is going into my 79 in the very near future. They have a good sound, but it is not overbearing in the cabin of the car. I like MagnaFlow too, my 89 Jimmy 4.3L has one and it sounds nice, again, not overbearing. I am more than likely going with dual MagnaFlows on the Cutlass.
