need a rad for my '78 Cutlass...hear the third gen F-body ('82-'92) radiator fits w/o mods...Plan on using an Intrepid's double fan assembly, which was sourced from a GBF member...Does anyone here know if the F-body rad swap works? If so, I appreciate any input you may have...Thank's!
 
It fits perfectly. I use one from a 91 TPI camaro. Just have to plug the heater return.
 
Why not get a direct replacement for your car? Back when the F-body radiator swap was popular, they didn't have direct replacement aluminum radiators for the A/G bodies. But that's not the case now.
 
Yeah, I know they're out there for g-body cars, but it's nice to know what OEM parts fit and work just as well as some of the pricer stuff that's out there, that's all...The f-body rads seem to be pretty inexpensive compared to other rads, including g-body offerings.

I'm not talking the expensive aftermarket aluminum radiators like Be Cool and such. You can go to just about any Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, etc and order a direct fit aluminum replacement radiator for an A/G body. Cost is right around $100-$120.
 
I bought a replacement radiator for a 1970 monte carlo with a 454 for 99 plus tax at advanced just required the smallest of persuasion to fit in a g body..It is a plastic/aluminum radiator but it is only a hundred bucks a lot less than a be-cool or griffin.
 
For those saying the F-body radiator in a G-body is a 'perfect' fit, did you not have to bend one of the transmission lines to get it to fit? I know others have said they had to and years ago when I tried an F-body radiator I would've had to bend one of the lines to get it to fit ( which I didn't weant to do, so the F-body radiator went back to the store ).

Now I know having to bend up one of your transmission lines isn't a big deal, but in my book that makes an F-body radiator NOT a true 'direct bolt in' that many claim them as being. It's more like 'an easy bolt in with minor tweaking'.
 
Works great! I got the $20 for the rad (89 GTA) and $25 for the fans (Chrysler concord). The rad drops right in. I don’t know about the factory transmission lines mine are aftermarket from bow tie overdrives. I am running a Olds 350, 2004r and 390 gears. There is a small outer lip on the fan shroud that i shaved off and it snaps right into place but i build some brackets to bolt it in. runs at 180 at all times. I did have to move to an 18lb rad cap it kept filling the res every three days or so. Now i have no problems.
