I recently bought an 82 Buick Regal for $600.. Car runs fine but has a few issues.. What do you expect for a $600 car.. But anyway, it's leaking oil from the oil pan gasket & transmission fluid as well.. My question is, how long & hard is it to remove/replace the oil pan gasket? I can take the car to the base's hobby shop to use the lift/tools so that's not an issue. My brother told me that I'd have to undo the mounts & raise the engine 3/4 of the way out like I'm doing an engine swap.. IDK if he's adding extra salt to the mixture or if it's the truth.

You'll probably be better off lifting the engine as he said to be able to get to some of the bolts holding the oil pan on.

Transmission pan should be relatively easy. Might want to change your filter while you got the pan off anyways. They are pretty cheap anyways so might aswell. You are gonna have to lift the engine like your brother said. Check your mounts while you got them unbolted. Make sure you replace your rear and front seals to.

You should really invest in a Haynes automotive book for your car. They really help when doing all this for the first time.

Thanks.. I've replaced transmission filters & gaskets before but never an oil pan gasket.. Just double checking to see if there's a quicker way.. Really can't afford to have my car down for long since it's my only means of transportation.. But on the flip side, I need it to be road worthy because I have to drive up to Oakland in a few wks for MOS school..
