83 bonneville from germany

this is the 83 bonneville 3,8
the project consist a complete strip and new construction with many many new paint and parts...and a little bit more performance. 🙂
so i began to strip it...
strange is for me, that i found rust INSIDE...but nothing under the car on the floorplate?!? the carpet was totally wet, i think it was the fault of maybe a missing weatherstrip seals fro´m the doors or maybe a hole in the front wall. i found it... 8)

the plan is definetely lower, maybe 5cm (i think its 2")
what parts i need for that?

selfmaded heaters and a exaust two way from heaters without silencers till end...hihihi...roaring pig, roar...

Paint???????????? i dont now...the interieur is blue and in a great condition.
come time,come´paint...

what is the coating on the trims? is it clear colour or what ? and how i can remove it carefully as possible?

question: from wich model and car i can use the complete steering coloumn?
i searched all days at ebay, but found nothing for my bonneville. is it right that i can use from cutless and el camino on g body? what is with for example 89 buick le sabre? it seems its the identic steering coloumn...?! aaahhrrrg, its really dificult to find the right parts... 😳

Obi, you can use any column from any "A" "G" body from 79' to 87'. The column mounted windshield wiper will cause some problems though. It's easiest and best to find an 82'-83' column (from any A-G body) just so the wipers work without trouble. I lifted this little chart from a previous topic to explain. http://gbodyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=26424 78 - Column has no wiper switch, has splined shaft making it unique to 78 only.
79-81 - Column has no wiper switch, has 2 flats on shaft which is used in later years. I have noticed several variants of crusise control switch, if so equipped.
82-83 - Column has wiper switch for a negative switched wiper motor and has 2 flats on shaft.
84-87 - Column has wiper switch for a positive switched wiper motor and has 2 flats on shaft. Here is a breakdown- Models of this generation (A body) include:

All you really need is a shift bowl and rack package. Back in the 70s/80s/early 90s, every shop kept them on hand, as they were very commonly damaged by theft attempts.

Here, these days, you can buy a complete column for what the parts would cost, but overseas, might be a bit tougher.

Yes, that Monte Carlo column will work.

Before you install it, you should tighten the tilt mechanism; on most of these columns, the attaching bolts have loosened with age.

actually I refreshed the engine. new gasket set for the complete engine etc...
Now the question: how much newtonmeter or ft.lbs I must thight the cylinderhead screws?

Guten abend. Here ya go Obi. 3.8 cylinder head bolts are 108 N.m or 80 ft lbs.
