Could be many things, it could be the pump, carb, or even a clogged fuel filter and other possible things. Check your distributor rotar as well. My car would die when I accelareted hard, come to find out the rotar was burnt up.

on the distributor did u just change rotar out. i changed fuel filter in carb.

Its possibly:
Accelerator pump
Fuel pump
Fuel filter
Crud in your gas tank (just had the same problem and the tank was rotten inside even though the outside was pretty much new looking)

Id start with the fuel filter and pump, easy cheap fix...

Yes u should be able to tell if it's ok by looking at it, the metal contact will be ate up or severly corroded.Check that out 1st. U recently put a filter in? It could be the accelerator pump as 88 said also. U can check to see if the accelerator pump is ok by taking the air cleanor off and pushing the throttle back and forth(car does not need 2 be running)u should be able to hear and or see fuel being pumped in if it's ok. Also a new fuel pump is only maybe $18, if all these other things check out ok, u might as well throw one on.

ok , i went in and put new fuel pump in . runs like an awesome 83 Hurst .MY BABY IS BACK  .I love her power . Ill post pics of her new interior im going to put in soon . THANKS TO ALL G BODY LOVERS
