some of you may remember my hurst from when I was going thru some probs with the engine being locked up, that I eventually free'd up, but now going thru some carb issues. The diagnosis is the carb is stopped up and since a new one is $400 I was investigating some throttle body(EFI) options..while doing homework on just slapping on an aftermarket carb and callin it the day, it was said that I would have to swap the distributor, and install an torque converter lockup kit along with swapping the carb and prob would still have A/C issues was wondering how could I avoid these probs and still go EFI

I know your looking at going to EFI, but why not just get your carb rebuilt and have them jet it for a little better performance, it usually costs around $200 bucks. Plus when my friend swapped a 400 Chevy into his 87 Monte SS he got the Computer Controlled Q Jet re-jetted and it ran fantastic. So in theory you should be able to get your carb re-jetted a little richer and make more power while retaining the factory equipt. Also I'm not familiar with your car in particular but if it was sitting a long time you might want to check your gas tank before swapping carbs or adding efi could be rust coming loose and clogging up the carb its happened to me on a few cars ruined some nice carbs to.
