Finally after a year I got a 1984 Hurst/Olds. I looked at the car about a year ago and couldn't agree on a price. Well january first I got back with the owner and it's now in my garage.

It going to need the t top replaced along with both doors. The car is complete and all original (not sure if it's going to stay that way) sorry the 307 is just not enough for me, Olds should have put a bigger engine in it so I think I'm going to fix that for them. Any changes made will not be permanent so I can always change it back.

I will post pictures as soon as I can a keep this thread updated as I work on it.

Hell yeah...Love the Hurst Olds...especially 84, maybe just because I see way more 83s here in Omaha....I think you got the right idea going with a bigger engine....while making it reversible if you needed to in the future...Are you thinking Olds 350, 403, or a 455? Or a non Olds engine? I wil check back for updates!

If youre looking into a bigger engine, the olds 350 and 403 are pretty much direct swaps and can use all of your accessories from the 307. Installing a chevy motor or a big block olds would require a little more work.

I just picked up a LS1 so it looks like I'm going to go that route. Not sure if I'm going carb or fuel injection though. I really wanting to go with a roots type blower like a 6-71

I also put my vin9 under the garage bench to preserve future collect ability value and went with a bigger motor that didn't require cutting welding or frame/body mods. You can see it in my pics. Honestly compared to a turbo blowers suck. A big ol roots style blower gets lots of nostalgia coolness but how does that fit with an ls motor? Or the car? Not knocking just sharing and asking. The LS motors are good just make sure you know the money and work sometimes fabrication it requires for the swap.

Both BDS and dyer are making roots blower kits for the LS platform. I know the LS will fit with no modification to the frame or firewall. The only concern will be the blower belt. I thought about the turbo route and haven't rules it out, but for me is all about the wow factor. I've never seen a roots sticking out of a cutlass let alone a hurst olds.

The power should be around 600 - 650 hp at the flywheel on pump gas. About the same with a good turbo, but I don't have to worry about intercoolers or engine management for the fuel injection. Rr
