I have a 83 Monte, but it has a 84 Monte motor and transmission, I assume it is a turbo350 but I am not sure, the motor is a 305. I am looking to buy the shift kit for it and im not sure what one I need.
Thanks

you probably have a 200 r4. check google to determine the differences between all transmissions and then youll have to climb under your car and figure out which one you have. a pain in the neck yes, but others will be impressed when you can identify a gm transmission just by looking at it. are you installing the shift kit yourself?

yeah I do plan on installing a transpak myself, my dad might help, but it seems quite simple if you have common knowledge.

I guess im going to have to get under there and check.

Both 83 and 84 SS's came stock with TH350c transmissions (3 speed with lockup converter). To be sure what you have, check the link below:

The only obvious external difference between a TH350 and a TH350c is the c will have an electrical connector on the side of it.

it came out of a 84 NON SS with the 305.

May very well be a 200c 3-speed then - not a trans worth spending money on. Do you know if it is a 3 or 4 speed? The link above will still help you identify it. The 200c and 200-4R will both have metric stamped on the bottom of the pan as well.
