So Cal
Can someone help me???

I have a 85 Cutlass with minimal rust. Just around the key hole on both doors, at the bottom of the driver side door and at the top of the wheel well.

Is it better to just get new doors?

If someone has removed rust before can you explain to me the steps to doing it?

This is my first build car and I've never even worked on a car before, other than changing brake pads and swapping out an alternator (years ago). I haven't done much to it yet, but now is the time to get going on it.

Thanks for any replies.

if you can find rust free doors then swap them out. Rust is Cancer, just when you think you have it all cut out it pops back up again

You don't need new doors. Post a pic or two to show us how deep the rust is. If it's surface stuff, no problem. I'll wait for a pic rather than to write a bunch of things that might not work for your situation.

rust is cancer sure.. but id say the easiest way to keep it from coming back is to sandblast the body panels....

if it were the frame or underbelly.. id coat the sucker in chassis grease.. thats whats keeping my rust from returning LOL
