86 442 Black on Silver at the towing yard

So last month in Milford Oh I drive past a towing yard and there sits a pretty nice 86 442 black on silver with ttops. I stop in to see what the story is. Ends up being a stolen recovery. I asked them what they would be willing to sell this for and their reply was not at this moment but we are looking to sell it off soon, no title. So with all this being said I am thinking,,,,,bingo.... I have an 86 as well that I saved all the "goodies" from. I can bring this car back to being able to run on the road. So I let the car sit for a bit, drove by today and it is still sitting there. So I stopped in to see if I may pursuade a sale today. Come to find out there had been 1/2 dozen people at least to stop in and try to purchase it as well in the past two weeks! So he asked my intention....I replied I am finishing a 85 442, and would like to have an 86 TTOP. Ok, let me take your number and I will call you when we title it next week. Wait, title it??? Sure...since there are 6 offers on this car in the past couple weeks we are taking the extra effort to title it for a better offer and sale...ugh..... Highest offer $6000.00 lowest, $4500.00

So, if this isnt pure evidence that this line of cars is picking up steam, I dont know what is!!

If you run across any of these cars in good condition to fair buy it at a good price, and keep your Gbody.....going up in value quickly!

awww stories like that make me cringe... I had a buddy with a 68 Camaro with no VIN (long time race car) and he was trying to buy a rotted out 68 off ebay, the guy wouldnt sell it to him because my buddy said he needed the vin. Wouldn't even take 5K for it!!

When I 1st joined this site about 5 yrs ago I bought a couple reverse lights for $5 a piece for my 88 Cutlass and people were giving the little chromes away but I kept missing out and was trying to grab some for like $20. Now I see people asking $50+ for these items and don't have enough money to buy them and feel dumb. At least I got the reverse lights in time. Damn.

If it was a theft recovery I wonder why the owner didn't want it back. Would the title be "clean" in Ohio?

Some people just don't want the hassle of getting it fixed with the insurance co. Sometimes they are never right again. My dad bought a couple recovered thefts and fixed them up and drove them for years with no ill effect.
