[330]O H I O
Me and my dad were working on my car tonight. And my dad says the transmission pan is leaking. How big of a deal is that? Any tips?

Thanks

Not to bad at all dude, just by a filter kit for it which usually comes with the gasket and o ring for the filter. You want to change the filter for it while you have the pan off. All you do is get a drain pan, a big one, and loosen up all the bolts and remove them all except one on each side in the middle so you can tip the pan a little so the fluid can come out slowly without it dropping in your face and taking a transmission fluid bath! Then unbolt the nut that holds the filter on and pull it out making sure that the little o ring comes off with it then put the new o ring on the filter and push the new filter on and put the bolt back in then scrape any remaining gasket material off and wipe it clean then put some silicone gasket sealer on the transmission surface clean the pan out and put some gasket sealer on the pan and put the new gasket on and bolt it back up tightening the bolts a little at a time all around in a random sequence until tight then torque them to specs and fill the transmission fluid up until almost full about 6 quarts or so, then start the car check for leaks and shift through the gears put it in park and check the dipstick and fill to full level. It sounds complicated but it's really not, more messy than anything.
