Picked this up not too long ago. Started an intro thread and decided to go ahead and start a build thread. Maybe it'll help keep me motivated on it. Not too sure what route I'll be taking yet, but I'm looking at building a 400hp daily for starts. 383? 454? 5.3/6.0 gen III? Who knows. Gotta see what the local Craigslist blesses me with.

It looks like a good foundation to start with and you are also lucky to not have a vinyl top to deal with.

Gotta get a lot of knick knacks sorted out. The key I have doesn't work on the trunks lock cylinder. The lock cylinder on the drivers door isn't even attached to the locking mechanism. I have to get the doors sorted out eventually. Had the notorious door sag and someone did a pretty bad job on the door strikers. The doors close though. It'll do for now.

Also got some floor rust behind the drivers seat that'll need to be taken care of eventually. Nothing too major, but it'll be addressed in this thread.

Picked this up today:

Makes a Chilton manual look like a childrens book. If anyone needs anything out of it I can snap a pic for you.

Thanks for looking everyone.

Thank you. I agree about the vinyl tops. I passed up a few of them for this one. I've seen the horrors they bring.
Horror is a good word for it. My 87 had vinyl when i got it...tore it off several years back to find alot of cancer.
Bad news: it was required to remove the skin for replacement.
Good news: it is a factory hardtop car so there was no bondo issues to deal with. At one point it looked like this....

Wow! Now that really inspires me to get the ball rolling. Most people would have scrapped that one. I got no excuses now lol.

Lol, no scrapping permitted...it's my 1st car that I've owned since i was 17 back in '01. The body on yours looks nice and solid. In addition to the roof skin, mine needed rockers, quarters (coulda got away with patches), minor frame rust repair, driver side front floor pan. Here is a pic as it was going in for paint prep.
