97 Yukon no start

I went to go pickup the 97 Yukon I’m supposed to be buying, for an engine swap, and it wouldn’t start. When I went to look originally, it fired right up and ran smooth as silk. Today it just cranked and cranked. When it did fire it sounded like the timing was way off. It was sitting since we looked at it on Monday. It was raining today where it was sunny and dry that day. I was thinking maybe a jumped timing chain but how is that even possible when the truck was not even driven?

If moisture is to blame, I'm assuming it's the 5.7l, not the diesel. Cap and rotor

Yeah it’s a 5.7. My only concern is that nothings physically wrong with it, so I’d like to hear it run again before I buy it. I’m going to switch it to a carb anyway

Because I’m already set up for it. I’d go ls if I was going to go through the trouble of taking my car off the road for an extended amount of time.

No inspection in Jersey on an 81. The engine is for my Malibu. The frame is shot on the Yukon, that’s why the kid is selling it.
