Replaced the compressor last year, full of freon....I checked all the fuses and found the "G" fuse was out. Replaced the "G" fuse and turned the A/C and the engine idle made me think it was working, but then when I look the clutch won't engage to spin the compressor. I check and the motor is not locked up, so now I'm thinking it's a switch or relay but not sure.

Any help out there??

Is there power at the connector to the ac clutch? Could be the clutch if so, If there is no power could be pressure switch, or you possibly could have a leak and be low on refrigerant.

Yes the connector is right where the pulley is. I will get a pic shortly.

I just replaced the relay that connects to the accumulator. Still not working.

I'll check if it's getting power shortly as well.

It has been converted to 134R and I used one of those freon cans with the hose thinking it was just low and it seems like it's fuul because it will not take any of the freon.

I think the ground comes from the oil pressure switch and power comes through the climate control. That way the clutch won't engage while starting.

My compressor on my 79 has a low pressure switch on it and it controls the clutch. I think they moved the switch to the evaporator in later cars. Either way, check the pressure switch to see if it is working. Maybe temporarily bypass it and see if the clutch engages.
