The Muscle Car Evolution track day was held at The Silver Dollar Racyway in Reynolds GA.
yesterday. Theyhad a large turnout. The staging lanes were full all day and the races
were going off every 60-90 seconds. The crew at Silver Dollar did a GREAT job. There
were only 3 delays for track cleanup and only 1 of those was longer then 10 minutes. The
longest of the delays was a little over an hour and was the result of a rail that crashed
and broke into several pieces. The driver was ok but the car came back to the pits on two
Different trucks. The people that rented the track for the day, Muscle Car Evolution also
did a great jobworking along side the track crew.
Most of the Muscle Car Evolution members own late model performance cars, Mustangs, Careros,
Chargers, Corvettes, and Nissan GTR's were in abundance. There were a lot of good looking
and real fast cars there. After my first run I drew a crowd in the pits that wanted to see
why the relic of a bygone era could win a race with their crowd. The vinyl top and crome trim
on my car and the stock, family car look just didn't match the performance. I answered questions
about the car after every race. I feels real good to get your props after a lot of work
and time put into a car like this. I had a great day!
I ran the 150 HP jets I have been contemplating and they worked fine and the motor is fine,
all though by the end of the day my oil pressure at idle had dropped to 8 PSI, it came back up
to 20 PSI at idle by the time I got home. The 150 shot was too much for my tire/suspension
and I could notstop the tires from spinning off the line and ended up bringing in the NO2
at 3,300 RPM My best time for the day was 11.82 @114 with a 1.838 60 ft. Even with all
the tire spin I won 7 of the 9 races I had. My times were very consistent (between 11.8 and
12.1) all day. I am going to try my hand at bracket racing next season.
