should the 307 stock spin tires? or does the car not have enough power along with the car being such a heavy car?

88 cutlass

thanx

When I had the 307 in my car it wouldnt spin on dry pavement. It would on wet pavement and when punched in reverse, and can be power braked pretty nice. 😛 Mine also had a bad rod knock, so I dont know if mine makes a good example!

Sure...if you neutral drop it. Maybe the 442 version would, but the standard car probably would not, especially given the piss-poor gearing the car comes with and only 140hp in a 3500lb car.

My '87 442 would if you power-braked it. It had a good launch for what it was. It had the 3.73 geared 8.5" rear and 200-4R as well.

When I had a stock original 88 Cutlass with stock 2.56 gear it would do the one tire brake stand on any pavement regardless of tires. The bad thing about the 307 was it had nothing beyond that. All its 240 foot pounds of torque were way down low and it had no higher rpm horsepower. It would peel tires but had nothing beyond that and was not worth the investment to change that when compared to the same money in the same block Olds 350 or 403.

Yeah, those restrictive heads kill any hope of real performance.
