A question about wheels

My car is a 1983 Bonneville. It has black steelies with factory original hubcaps. I am not making any serious performance mods to my car, it's just for cruising. What I want is info as to what offsets will work on theses GBody cars. I imagine it's the same on all of them, but I know I could be wrong. I know it is the 5 x 4.75 (or 5 x 4 3/4, same thing) bolt pattern. I am interested in buying a used set of chrome wheels, and I need to know what vehicles I could buy rims off of. I also need the info in case I order new rims from e-bay. I know s-10's have the same bolt pattern, I just don't know if the offset is a match. Also, if you have used rims for sale, you can contact me at my email, [email protected]. Thanks alot!!!

On that list of offsets it said 4.25 "BS." What does the BS mean? I know what BS usually means, just figured that wasn't what was being implied. So what offset do the later s-10's have?

BS = backspacing

Most 15" G-body wheels were 7" wide with 3.75" BS. Olds and Buick used 4 or 4.25", but that just limits things. Note that BS requirements will change with wheel diameter.

2WD S-10 wheels are a bolt on - ZQ8's are a popular choice for G-bodies and look great 8)

WOW - I really thank you all for the information! I must seem like I don't know anything about anything. Okay, maybe I don't. But two years ago I couldn't do anything more than change a flat or put in a new battery, and now, a little older and broker (or poorer) I have found myself doing alot more out of necessity. The more you guys can teach me the better - THANKS!!!

I'm always in the process of learning these things. Actually... it's sorta what I do, I'm apprenticing for my mechanic's license. Another couple of years should do it.

You know grandbonnevillecreature that some guys will act like they were born knowing everything about cars but the fact is that at one time they knew as little as you.

You should read my posts about my engine trouble. If the books are right, I MAY know what I'm talking about. But the books are just guidelines, not almighty, and I'm wrong when they're wrong. I'm trying to diagnose and fix a problem with my car running like moistened crap. I try to at least find a jumping off point with the repair manuals, but you can't go by them like they're always right nomatter what. I just wish cars were a little bit more simple, you know? Why can't they all use the same wheels, same tires, same damn wiper blades? AAAAARrrrggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
