Finished laying in the sound deading mat into my 78 Monte. I used the FatMat Rattle Trap covering. I'm real happy with the results.

Looks real good! I put some on the inside of my doors too.. makes a good amt of difference.

I would like to, but was worried it would be to thick for the trim? Did you just cut around the mounting holes? I have some left to cover them.

Very nice! I didn't think anyone else was trying to get a quiet ride out of these cars 😀

I should do what you did (if I get around to replacing the carpet). So far I have just added some to the firewall and front floor pans (where I could get pulling the carpet back). It does make a noticeable difference.

Have you noticed any highway wind noise from your Monte? I have a 4dr Malibu, so it has the full-frame doors. It seems like I'm hearing a lot of turbulence from air rushing past the door at 65+ mph. Of course it's not sealed up with flush-mount doors like new cars.

I can't wait to do that to my car. So how much did all that cost?

I haven't had it on the road with the full interior yet. I've replaced all the door and roof gaskets, plus new window felt. All of this plus the sound mat, it should be a huge change?

I purchased the 100 sq ft of 80 mil mat off of Ebay for $139.00. 50 sq would of been enough for just the inside of the car, but I also did the trunk area. I now hope to cover some of the interior door panels also.

I didn't cover the outside mounting holes and just cut around the inside ones. I was thick, but when you get rid of the old factory jute, it worked out, at least with the stuff I used.
