Need help identifying these wires and connectors please (the book I have is useless) plus I think the previous owner may have spliced wires in.
2 light green wires one goes to a connector and 1 is just hanging and cut… a dock green wire that goes to a connector a red wire that goes to a connector (but doesn’t come out the other end of connector and a black wire which is probably ground out of the connector are two light green wires a dark green wire and a black wire one of the light green wires goes to this connector. The other goes to this connector where a brown wire comes out of and goes back …. I’m doing a swap where I want to use an air conditioner but I don’t know which wires are needed to be kept. Thank you for anyone who can help

Im thinking your car would be the same as my 83 Malibu wagon. The dark green and black go to the AC compressor. Light green goes to the high idle solenoid and red should be power.

Yes probably the same, is that what the connector in the picture is for, or do you think it’s the random (cut) light green wire
Also if you see in the picture where the red wire plugs into …. on the schematic, I have , it says it is a fusible link. However, the other side of the connector doesn’t have any red wire coming out of the connector as it terminates
is there anyway you can confirm that.
Thank you for the help

Mind you it's an 87 manual I'm looking in, but it should be close.

If your pic is correct and that's an LS swap, then you're prob not using the factory ECM.

The second pic looks like C497 in my manual. It runs the power to the A/C Blower Relay (Your high speed fan). It goes back to a fusible link at the Starter Solenoid.

The third pic is what looks like a connector to the ECM that prob went to the carb.

The fourth pic looks like the connector to the A/C Comp Control Relay (This is the ECM control over the Comp.) When you turn the A/C on in the car, the Lt Green wire sends power to the relay. The ECM provides the ground to activate the relay and send power to the Comp.

Many who eliminate the ECM connect the Lt Green wire and the Lt Green/Black Stripe wire (87 Manual mind you) together and eliminate the relay. This way, when you turn it on in the car, it just goes straight to the Comp.

Thank you…you are correct I do not have the old ecm connected at all…. To make sure I understand (I’m an idiot mind you) I can eliminate the connection that went to the carb (which could be idle control) tie the green wire from that and the green wire from the relay together and also eliminate the relay. Awesome
That last connector which I’ll send two pictures of again has a red wire that comes from a relay that is connected to the AC box. It goes into the connector but doesn’t exit the connector. Hopefully these pictures will solve the rest of the problem. Thank you again for your help. As you can see, the red wire comes off of that part connected to the heating box goes into that connector and does an exit. Did someone pull a wire out of this or is that correct? In your opinion?

Last question, I promise haha. By tying those two green wires together did those become hot when you turn the AC on in the car

Again, thank you

Double check the wiring colors by searching the web with "1984 cutlass Compressor Control wiring diagram" or similar. Someone here or there has the schematic.

The connector that would go into the relay has the 2 wires to jump together. Use the Comp connector and trace the power wire back. It should go to that relay connector eventually. That relay should have 4 wires. The jump should be there.

Here's a crude drawing:

Forgot to comment on this. That is the blower high speed relay. There's a resistor pack that's on top of A/C housing. That handles all the slower speeds. When you select "Hi" it routes to that connector and relay to give the blower motor straight 12+ volts.

You my friend need to invest in a factory shop manual that has all the wiring diagrams. You won't regret it.
