I have an ACC Converter in my cutlass. Its a th350 with a 3200-3600 stall, part # 47013. I was driving to work a couple weeks ago and it let go. The weld were the hub is welded to the housing actually cracked. Lost alot of fluid and had to have it towed. I only had about 1300 miles on it. They said I'm out of warrenty. But would give me a brand new one for the cost of having one rebuilt. Would it be worth it to put this in or should I buy a different brand converter and just sell the new one when I get it.

well a quick search online shows good reviews. my first response was that i'd kick and scream about warranty, since the welds let go. but i see in the sig that you have a 434 stroker olds. you may just need to upgrade.

That sounds boguss to me :x If the weld broke, that is a manufacture defect and should be taken care of at no cost to you.

unless it's related to ballooning.

See I bought their converter because of their reviews. I bought this thing in may of 2009. But only really started driving the car last summer and got 1300 miles or so on it. He said the only thing that would cause that is heat. I told him I bought a monster transmission with their matching external trans cooler. He asked what I was doing when it let go and told well I was driving to work and was 40 miles into my ride when the trans fluid sprayed all over stainless exhaust and smoke pouring out from under the car.

I think I'm going to put the new one back in. If for some reason it happens again I'll exchange it again and buy a TCI or something. I hope it was just a fluke. The guy even said its a rare occurance to have them crack. Ill hope for the best.

Well I got my converter in today. It only took a week and half after they got it in. They ended up not charging me. But It was the same converter. I had stamped my initials in it and sure as sh*t I got the same one back. They had promised me a new one. I vacuum checked it and its holding vacuum. When I sent it back it didn't and when I put air in it you could see fluid come out of the crack. It doesn;t do it now.. I guess they just welded it and sent it back to me.

I hope this damn thing works. Ill be pissed if it happens again. Then I will demand they pay for my tow next time.
