Has anyone here ever used or is currently using Accel part#4053 spark plug wires on their car? They are supposedly for all "later" style Olds V8's, 260-455.

Just wondering what the fit was like, or any issues anyone has come across. The photo Accel provides shows that the distributor cap boots have the knob so you can use the factory retainer, but this is often not the case.

I intend on using these in a 1986 Regal with a 307 Olds.

I use taylor wires for my cutlass that has the 400 E block in it. The fit and finish is nice, I recommend them.

I was looking at the Taylor ones too, as they make theirs in blue, which would match the car. But, I'm looking for a direct fit. The Taylor ones were semi-ambiguous as to what engine they were for, as they were supposedly "Olds/Chevy" (?), and had 135-degree plug boots (as opposed to the straight ones Olds engines are supposed to have). They did however have the knobs for the retainer in the cap boots, in the picture anyway.

The knobs aren't super important, but I have Duralast wires on the car temporarily, and they don't have them. Kind of just sloppy/improper.

If that is a concern why don't you buy the wire set and make your own? The tools to make spark wires are cheap enough. I had to make my own when I needed them for my K5 since it has angle heads and headers.

In all honesty, I don't have any desire to make my own wires. For the price, it's somewhat ludicrous to pay that much for a universal kit. I've never seen a universal set come with the boots I speak of either.

I have used the Accel 9000 extreme temp set for the Olds V8. Good quality wires but some wires were too long. I used the cut to fit Accel 25 ohm per foot race wires, talk about nice wires with super low resistance. I used them after the MSD Superconductor wires #1 wire cracked twice when I was having heating issues with my 403.
