I heard this on the local talk radio station's news today. Hamid Karzai (leader of Afghanistan) is offering asylum to Bin Laden if he agrees to cease hostilities. He said that if the US does not like it, they can throw him out of power or get out of the country. So... what did the whole venture really net us in the end? Is this just opportune timing to stab the US in the back seeing as Bush is exiting and Obama is coming in?

honestly i'm not sure HOW i see this one. ending hostilities would be good, but would they STAY ended? and it's a little strange for him to offer this when we have so many troops there. and does he say that osama must stop hostilities, or that all off al quaida/taliban forces have to cease? hypothetically it could be that osama is dying and wants an easy out. once he dies, after we take the deal, his followers go to someone else and start killing again. or it could be a deal we have with the afghans to flush him out and an "accident" happens.

I don't know, and honestly I was hoping someone else had heard more on this. All I know is what I heard on the news on the local talk station. I haven't been able to find the story anywhere else.

I haven't heard that but as far as I am concerned if that is true then I would be happy if we solved the problem and came home and just nuked the whole place.

ahhh genius at work...
