has anyone achieved installing a aftermarket tachometer in a factory clusters?

Are you talking about an aftermarket replacement of the factory tach...or something like a Autometer tach?

It looks like the factory type reproduction that Dixie sells is a direct bolt in...

Like a DIY. put in a nearby auto part tachometer in place of the factory one.
