I am looking at buying an air cleaner, for my 4brl 350, What do you guys sugest? I was looking at a few chrome edelbrach ones, and a expensive (140$) K&N filter, I am wanting to put a hood scoop on so clearence really shouldnt be a problem, any advice on this subject?

Do you want it for more performance or looks? From what I know, open air cleaners can hurt performance because it is mainly sucking hot air from around the engine. I know there is more factors on how it hurts performance but, im not sure what. If you can find a dual snorkel setup from a Camaro(I think thats the car) and run ducts to get cooler air from the outside it will help out.

My favorite is the dual snorkel from a 1983-86 Camaro with the HO 305 option. Use that base and a 305 Monte lid with the filter for the monte and you will be ready to build a cold air system. I dislike chrome open elements because they sap performance and clog VERY quickly. Expect to change the filter on an open element every 3-4 weeks. Plus, chrome does not last long in Florida. It will look like rusty old crap in 6 months to a year.

hmm.... I am not sure what Im gunna do... Im considering that cai. but it sounds alot more expensive than just that filter... Im going more for looks cause its not like IM building a high performance motor anyways, I will probally just stick a chrome edlebrach air filter on there though

You should be fine with the one you want. If you were trying to squeeze every last horse power out of the engine, then you would want the cai. As for the k&n I have no experiance with them. You might just be paying for the name in that case.

I am wanting to put a hood scoop on. but wont that let water in also? or would a cowl hood be better?
