i just got a 87 442 it has a rod knock
what is needed to be done to drop in a chevy small block? i have a fresh 327 on a stand
how would a built up 200r4 handle the 327 or should i go with a th350 or th400 the car is not going to be run on the road
the engine has 12-1 pistons 2.02 heads a wild solid lifter cam 850 demon carb on a victor intake it use to run 11.50's in my nova
how strong is the 8.5 10 bolt i never did run any 10 bolts but since i have it
any one know where i could get a good deal on a fiberglass hood and trunk

thanks

be warned, you will catch a lot of sh*t for putting a SBC in an olds.
all you need is the proper mounts and a dual bolt pattern 200r4 i believe.
the 200r4 is a great trans and if built right can take 900hp! check out bowtie overdrives and ckperformance.
the 8.5 is slightly weaker than a 12 bolt. with that motor i'd definately get stronger axles and gears. if you're at the strip a lot i'd also get rid of the c-clips.

Read my sticky in the Engine forum for the swap info. You can use your trans as is, but everything else will be needed. I normally have no problem with putting a SBC in an Olds ( I did!), but considering that it is a 1987 442, and pretty rare, I would look into another Olds engine instead, like a 330, 350, or 403. It is a car that deserves to have an Olds engine under the hood.

i did alot of searching got all the info i needed from this site wow!!!!

megaladon6 hey its either a sbc or a dodge 360 since i have both takeing up space lol
i checked the trans it has the dual bolt patteren
as for the rear end i just ordered a set of moser shafts 4:56 gears, also the c clips elim. and a spool i even got one of those covers that have the bolts the put tension on the caps
what i would really like to do is put a 4 speed in that would be fun but hard on the 10 bolt lol

85 Cutlass Brougham how much is a 87 442 worth? the car is pretty good shape. it only has rust on the trunk lid all the power windows, locks, sunroof, seat all work even the ac sort of works cool not cold also has about 80000 miles. im the second owner the paint is kinda bad the clear is pealing off on the roof truck and hood

hey, i own a chevy, i don't care what you put in it!!!! 🙂
the 442's were a limited production model, so they are worth more than a regular cutlass. but that's about it. besides, putting in an olds 350 will destroy the collectors value just as much as a SBC.
