was there a such thing as a factory dual hump crossmember??? I'm getting ready to go to the junkyard tommarow, to look for one and am just wondering if I'm waisting my time. If they did, what cars would be more likely to have one? And do any other trannys use the same crossmember as the 200r? I've got an 87 ls I'm planning on reuseing the 200 in.

It does not exist in factory form. All G bodies had a single cat exhaust system, and thus only a single hump crossmember. It is extremely unlikely you would find one in the junkyard, as it would have to have been left there by someone who paid good money for it to modify their car. GM A bodies from the 60's and 70's had them, but they do not interchange with a G body.

alright, thats kinda what I thought but just wanted to check anyway. I've read and looked at alot of different ways to modify mine and have been looking at the g force ones. Thanks

I have a G-force cross member that I am happy with. A log of the guys on here have used the Jegs, Summit or Iceman cross members which are quite a bit less than the G-Force. Check them out too.

I will also say that it depends on how you build your engine as to what you need in the exhaust department. I have a 2x2.25 into 3 in cat to 2x2.25 in setup and it seems to work just fine with my mild 350. I want to get a better Y pipe from the cat to the rear, but do not see the single 3 in high flow cat as an actual restriction. If you went my route, I would stay far, far away from the Dynomax cat back that I have. The Y pipe is a poor design and every other system I have seen is better than this one. Hooker makes one that looks much nicer, and I think Flowmaster does too. ( I do like the Dynomax mufflers though because they are quiet with no resonance) You can also do true duals without the double hump cross member too. The pipes just need to both be routed to the passenger's side. A few people here have theirs done that way as well.

Well, I ordered the pypes performance sgg12r from summit. It's a 2.50, header back system, with x pipe, and ss style tails. My headers I believe are older hookers, but I can't tell exactly. They came out of an 84 cutty with a chev 350. I'm just basicly looking for enough room to make it all work. Also, when I was looking at crossmembers and that I noticed some parts said they won't work on cutlass. Any idea what thats about?

I would not worry about it. While it is true that the earlier A body Cutlass used 2 different mounting locations for the same engine depending on the trim level, this is not true of the G body. I have a Pontiac Grand Prix 305 trans crossmember in my originally V6 Cutlass and it bolted in with no problems.
