according to ALLDATA, (through my school) my olds 307 has no valce clearance specs OR torque specs for the rocker arms... because it's hydralic lifters and the bridge slides through the arms and makes direct contact with the head..

Is this right??? if not, do you guys know what the torque/valve clearance is suppossed to be?

thank

You should have something that looks like this if your using stock rockers:

If that's the case, I believe the stock torque for the rocker bolts is 25ft/lbs. These, as you may have guessed, are non-adjustable.

If you done any machining to your heads/block deck surface or differen cam installed, you could run into problems trying to run stock rockers.

Yes, that's correct. As noted, there is a torque spec on the bolts that hold the bridges. The Olds valvetrain is non-adjustable (as are the valvetrains in most engines built in the last quarter century). Because of this, the installed valve tip height must be held to factory specs when a valve job is done. Many Chevy-centric machine shops don't know this or don't care, resulting in problems.

Yep, some had a shaft-like rocker setup.

That would be the 1964 330 motor with the No. 1 head castings only. These are pretty rare these days and replacement parts are even more rare. No other Olds motor used that configuration. The shaft rockers were also not adjustable.

I was going off memory 😳 The picture FE3X posted was what I was thinking, just wasn't sure how to describe it. I'd seen the rockers on the 455 that was in my '80 Malibu, but didn't have a very clear picture on how they actually bolted in.
